A Trailer Shows up for the Jason Statham Remake of The Mechanic

A trailer materialized for director Simon West’s remake of The Mechanic. Jason Statham stars in the main role with support from Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland. West hasn’t really handled a large theatrical release since Con-Air, The General’s Daughter and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. He’s been doing a lot of television work in recent years including Human Target. It’ll be interesting to see what he does with this material.

This isn’t slated to come out until December 15, 2010. We’ll be there.

Here’s the promo trailer.

We here at Blunt Force are big fans of the Michael Winner-directed original released in 1972. Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent were both awesome as aging hitman and young protege. While not a trailer here is an homage to the original action-thriller. Dig it.

I’d give this a go! Xmas 2010 huh?

  2. Not sure if it’s going to be a suckfest or not, but I’m not looking forward to this. The trailer doesn’t get me excited, it only makes me miss non-jaw clenching real men like Charles Bronson. He didn’t spend his time trying to acquire a “Thousand Yard Stare” or other “Intense” stares of action stars of now.

Man I miss Charles Fucking Bronson…
